Pack Your Hat and Gloves!

It's time to ski! After diligently following the ski report and snow forecasts, I was comfortable with the mountain conditions for my ski trip to Winter Park, Colorado. Snow abound! Unfortunately, the temperatures hovered below 0 and made my skiing quite difficult. My beard was full of snow pellets and my nose was close to frostbit.

Fortunately, I got one good day of skiing in before the conditions deteriorated.

I busied my time shopping in the Winter Park village and ice skating.

I drove back into Denver and checked out the renowned Red Rocks amphitheater.
Breathtaking views and landscapes!

Wishing you safe travels in 2011!

You Better Belize It!

Greetings, friends!
I have a lot of catching up to do on my recent travels! In October, I visited Belize for a week. What a great time!

I started my visit on the island of Ambergris Caye in the town of San Pedro. I had the whole place to myself as it was Pan-American day and hurricane season. The threat of winds and rain won't keep me away!

I had a lovely stay at the Caribbean Villas.

I also enjoyed rum drinks by the shore, snorkeling (day and night!), eating rice and beans and driving my golf cart.

From there, I hopped on a puddle jumper and flew back to Belize City. I rented a sporty Suzuki Jimny for my adventurous drive on dirt roads up the mountains to my jungle lodge. I stopped at the Belize Zoo to visit the national treasure, April the Tapir.

I then finished the ride to my jungle lodge, the Five Sisters. They opened the resort just for me -- apparently my reputation precedes me! I enjoyed excellent dining and views of the waterfalls in the lush setting.

I then took a Military convoy to visit the Mayan ruins of Caracol. I lent a hand in the excavations of several ball courts and crypts.

Next, I visited the town of San Ignacio and had papusas at the market. I also explored the ruins of Cahal Pech.

After so much activity, I took a relaxing afternoon to sun myself and swim in the rapids at the base of the waterfalls. I had several a Belikin beer!

I also spied a perfect setting for my future wedding -- when I find the right lady gnome to share my travels with.

Speaking of, I have other travels to recount for you!
